Seward: Wind companies turning blades in communities

Posted on February 20, 2018 by 40 Mile Commentator

A section of southeastern Alberta has windmill projects in the works and depending on which locals you talk to about it, it’s either a positive or a negative step forward.
Like anything else of this magnitude, there’s lots of mixed opinions.
However, when there are big companies, such as Renewable Energy Sources, giving back to the community, like the local health foundation, it’s encouraging.
You get a sense that they want to be there and they care what the community thinks.
There are a couple of other companies in the area building these massive wind farms that could be doing the same, but donating or sponsoring near a project is a different way of promoting thier brand and making themselves welcomed in the community.
RES has been involved with local pool days and libraries and hopefully that expands once summer starts again.
They could have kept to themselves and not be shown, but now the folks around the project have seen what else the company has done. Expansion in a community never hurts.
It just shows the company is not there just make money, but to become a community friend, not showing an ounce of selfishness in that way.
Keep up the good work and maybe lead by example.
